RCMA and MIIP Sign MOU to Drive Integration and Development in the Asia-Pacific Interior Decoration Sector

Kuala Lumpur, July 24, 2025

The Renovation Contractors & Material Suppliers Association (RCMA) of Singapore and the Malaysian Interior Industry Partners Association (MIIP) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking the establishment of a strategic partnership. This milestone opens a new chapter of in-depth collaboration and resource sharing between the interior decoration and design industries of both countries.

Dr. Sky Tan, President of RCMA and Founder of SKY CREATION, and Mr. Elvin Tay, President of MIIP and Founder of high-end custom home brand ARMARIOR, represented their respective associations in signing the agreement.

According to the MOU, the two parties will enhance cooperation in the following five key areas:

  • Building a business network and long-term cooperation framework between members of both associations;
  • Sharing industry knowledge, construction expertise, and supply chain management resources;
  • Jointly organizing exhibitions, trade visits, industry training, and other events;
  • Promoting cross-border collaboration in decoration projects and material supply chains;
  • Advocating for industry ethics, sustainable green development, and standardized processes.

Presidents’ Vision: Going Global and Bringing Resources Home to Build an Asia-Pacific Industrial Community

Beyond the formal framework, both presidents shared a strong sense of industry mission and future vision at the event.

Tan remarked:

“We have always encouraged our members to ‘go global,’ actively engage in international dialogue, broaden their horizons, and continually learn new technologies and trends. This isn’t just about growing individual businesses; it’s about advancing the entire industry.”

Tay added:

“In the future, we plan to lead our members abroad to visit key building materials production areas and emerging projects worldwide, to learn from advanced practices. At the same time, we aim to ‘bring resources home,’ injecting fresh momentum into our domestic industry.”

Both presidents emphasized that this is not merely the starting point of bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Malaysia, but rather an open platform aimed at integrating resources and fostering collaborative development across the Asia-Pacific region. Looking ahead, RCMA and MIIP plan to actively partner with other interior design and building materials associations in the Asia-Pacific, jointly promoting the standardization, systematization, and internationalization of the regional interior decoration and design industry.

The partnership between RCMA and MIIP also creates valuable opportunities and channels for Chinese enterprises in building materials, home furnishing, decoration technologies, and related service sectors to “enter Southeast Asia”:

Facilitating market entry: By connecting with RCMA or MIIP, Chinese companies can quickly gain insight into local market demand, regulations, and project opportunities, reducing trial-and-error costs.

Participating in joint visits and exhibitions: Through exhibitions, trade delegations, forums, and other activities jointly organized by both associations, Chinese companies have the opportunity to showcase products and solutions directly to local buyers.

Joining the Asia-Pacific industry chain: This partnership is set to extend its influence across the Asia-Pacific, enabling Chinese enterprises to contribute technology, products, and design expertise and participate in multilateral industrial cooperation.

Finding reliable local partners: Leveraging the associations’ member networks and recommendation mechanisms helps Chinese companies identify reputable and capable agents, distributors, or construction partners, boosting localization efficiency.

Bringing high-quality Southeast Asian resources to China: For businesses interested in exploring the Chinese market, this platform also offers an avenue to import premium Southeast Asian resources—such as timber, decorative materials, and eco-friendly building materials—into China, strengthening their import supply chain.

The RCMA–MIIP partnership not only serves as a model of collaboration between two national associations but also signals a new stage of connectivity, integration, and mutual benefit between China and Southeast Asia’s interior decoration industry.
