Wissmann Holdings aquires Milega

Jerusalem, Israel

Milega, a chain of stores for home wear and beanbags, was recently acquired by Wissmann Holdings Group, Israel’s leading furniture company.

The Milega beanbag chain currently employs about 25 people and intends to double the number of employees within two years. Yogi Avisar, the director and founder, will continue in his position.

The founders, Yogi and Michal Avisar, founded the Milega brand about 30 years ago and sold it to Wissmann Holdings, which owns, among other things, the furniture and home design brand Shomrat hazorea.

“Milega was founded by Michal and I first as a small family business that grew over the years into a large factory. For us, Milega is a home and a big one family, and we are happy that it is integrated into the business of the Jerusalem Wissmann Group, known as a family of furniture. Michal and I are convinced that they will continue the legacy and maintain the values of the Milega brand as well in the years to come and wish them much success” said Yogi and Michal

Arie Wissmann, chairperson of the Wissmann Holdings group, a winner of the International Furniture Leadership Awards in 2022 commented: “We are happy that the negotiations that began a few months ago matured into the purchase of Milega, which is the first producer of bean bags in Israel and the one that brought to the world the wonderful nursing pillows. We share quite similar values and will continue to follow the path of Yogi and Michal in the years to come.”

Shomrat hazorea from the Wissmann Holdings Group is owned by Nachum Wissmann and Arie Wissmann and six members of the next generation who manage the various brands and activities in the Wissmann Group. The company was founded in 1932 by Leo and Yehudit Wissmann, the founding generation who immigrated to Israel from Germany.

Over the years, the company has supplied furniture to many homes in Israel even before the establishment of the state. Wissmann Holdings currently employs over 200 people in 8 companies and furniture brands that are marketed in Israel and 14 other countries around the world.
